Drago Ivanišević was a Croatian poet, dramatist, translator, editor, painter, and theater worker, born on February 10, 1907, in Trst, and passed away on June 1, 1981, in Zagreb. He is considered one of the great names in Croatian poetry of the second half of the 20th century and was among the first modernists in Croatian literature between the two world wars. An engaged poet and humanist, he created numerous anthological verses infused with surrealistic and apocalyptic visions, linguistic experiments, and remarkable analogies and metaphors.
