Drago Tršar was a Slovenian sculptor born on April 27, 1927, in Planina, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana in 1951 and later became a professor there. Tršar was a member of the artistic group Grupa 53 and contributed significantly to Slovenian and Yugoslav art during the 50s and 60s. He focused on creating outdoor sculptures and human figures, earning the Prešeren Award in 1967 and a lifetime achievement award in 1990. His works include several brutalist monuments.
