Drexel Wellington Gomez is a retired Anglican archbishop and primate of the Church in the province of the West Indies. He was ordained in 1959 and became the Bishop of Barbados in 1972. In 1996, he became the Bishop of the Diocese of the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands, and in 1998, he was elected Archbishop. He is known for his opposition to the ordination of non-celibate LGBT individuals, while also advocating for the decriminalization of homosexuality as a human rights issue. He served on the Lambeth Commission on Communion.
