Dumitru Simulescu was a Romanian communist official born on October 25, 1912, in Ghioroiu, Vâlcea. He became an illegal member of the Romanian Communist Party in 1939 and served in various ministerial roles from 1950 to 1966, including Minister of Posts and Telecommunications and Minister of Transport. He was a member of the Central Committee from 1960 to 1974 and held a parliamentary seat from 1957 to 1975. His tenure ended following a train accident in 1966 that resulted in multiple fatalities.
