Dumitru Zidu was a Moldovan politician born on May 9, 1932, in Giurgiulești. He served as a deputy in the Parliament of Moldova from 2001 to 2005 representing the Alianța Braghiș party. Zidu was also the first communist party secretary during the establishment of the Ștefan Vodă district in 1964 and served as the Minister of Education. Additionally, he was an alternate member from Moldova in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from April 23, 2001, until September 27, 2002. He passed away in 2002.
