Sir Duncan John Wingham is a British physicist, currently serving as Professor of Climate Physics at University College London. He was the first Director of the Centre for Polar Observation & Modelling and is the chief executive of the Natural Environment Research Council. Wingham is also Principal Scientist for the CryoSat Satellite Mission. His research in the 1990s focused on the Antarctic ice sheet, concluding it had minimal impact on 20th-century sea level rise, though he acknowledges potential underestimations of global warming's effects. He was knighted in 2020 for his contributions to climate science.
