Dunya Maumoon is a Maldivian politician who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2013 to 2016, and as Deputy Minister of Health from 2017 to 2018. She resigned as Foreign Minister due to irreconcilable disagreements regarding the government's implementation of the death penalty, which she felt negatively impacted the Maldives' image. Shortly after, she returned to the government under President Abdulla Yameen as Deputy Minister of Health, only to resign again in 2018 in protest of her father's arrest, amid political tensions within the ruling party.
