Duran Kalkan, also known as Selahattin Abbas and Selahattin Erdem, is a high-ranking commander of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). Born on August 14, 1954, in Karaisalı, Adana, he is one of the current three leaders of the PKK alongside Murad Karayılan and Cemil Bayık. Kalkan has been accused by the US Department of the Treasury and the Turkish government of various serious allegations, including recruiting minors for military service, engaging in drug trafficking, and targeting government officials, police, and security forces, as well as harming and killing civilians indiscriminately.
