E. Balanandan (1924-2009) was a prominent Indian politician and trade union leader from Kerala. He was a member of the CPI(M) politburo from 1978 until 2005, and served as the first Secretary of the Kerala State Committee of the CITU upon its formation in 1970. A member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly from 1967-1977, he was also elected to the Lok Sabha in 1980 and the Rajya Sabha in 1988 and 1994. Known for his contributions to the trade union movement, Balanandan held several key positions until his passing due to respiratory illness.
