E. G. Sugavanam is an Indian politician who served as a member of the 15th Lok Sabha, representing the Krishnagiri constituency in Tamil Nadu for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party. He achieved notable electoral success by defeating Jayalalithaa in the 1996 State Assembly elections and won the Krishnagiri seat in the 2004 and 2009 Indian general elections. Despite several attempts, he lost elections in 1989, 1991, and 2001. His political career includes serving on various committees during the United Progressive Alliance government from 2004 to 2014.
