E. M. George was a prominent Communist politician in Kerala and a former member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, representing the Puthuppally constituency. He was an active participant in the freedom struggle during his student days and joined the Communist Party in the late 1940s. He held various roles in the CPI(M) and was imprisoned multiple times due to his activism. George won elections from Puthuppally in 1965 and 1967. He faced defeat in 1970 and was imprisoned during the Emergency period. He passed away on May 13, 1999.
