Earl M. Brown Jr. was an American football and basketball player and coach, born on October 23, 1915, and passing on September 23, 2003. He coached football at Dartmouth, the US Merchant Marine Academy, Canisius College, and Auburn University, with a college football record of 27–36–6. His basketball coaching career included positions at Harvard, Dartmouth, the Merchant Marine Academy, and Canisius, with a record of 72–70. Notably, he led Dartmouth to the NCAA tournament finals in 1944. Brown played sports at Notre Dame and also coached for the Detroit Lions after Auburn.
