Eben van Zyl, born in 1931 in Keetmanshoop, Namibia, was a prominent Namibian lawyer and politician affiliated with the National Party of South West Africa. He served as a member of the South West African Legislative Assembly from 1964 to 1981 and briefly held the position of Minister of Agriculture, Water and Fisheries in 1986-1987. Van Zyl returned to politics in the 1980s and was involved with the National Patriotic Front, where he stepped back from political life after the 1989 elections. He spent his later years on his farm, Den Haag.
