Eberhard Geisler is a German Romanist born in Bad Homburg in 1950. He studied Romance and Germanic philology at Frankfurt, spent a year in Madrid, and graduated in Hamburg. His doctoral thesis focused on money in the works of Francisco de Quevedo. He has held teaching positions in Berlin and Erlangen-Nuremberg, publishing works on Spanish, Latin American, French, and German literature. Notably, he translated works of J.V. Foix and won a prize for his anthology and translation of Foix's poetry. He has been a professor at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz since 1995.
