Ed Gebski is a Dutch artist born in 1959 in Heerlen, currently based in Amsterdam. He creates monumental canvasses using a unique technique involving silver-nitrate and oil paint in a darkroom. The colors and details of his paintings emerge only when exposed to light, reminiscent of photographic development. This innovative process results in transparent hues remaining on the canvas post-painting. His notable recognition includes winning first prize at the Dutch Prix de Rome in 1994, and his work was featured in the 'Tot zo ver / Up to now' exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum.
