Ed Nijpels is a Dutch politician born on April 1, 1950, in Den Helder. He served as the royal commissioner in the province of Friesland from 1999 to 2008. Previously, he was the faction leader of the VVD, a member of the House of Representatives, and the Minister for Housing, Spatial Planning, and the Environment in the Lubbers II Cabinet. Additionally, he co-hosted the television program 'Aktua in bedrijf' and portrayed a mayor in the film 'De Kameleon', where his son Boyan also appeared.
