Eda Kalmre, born on September 12, 1958, is an Estonian folklorist and researcher of contemporary folklore. She studied at Sillaotsa School and Tartu Secondary School, later obtaining her degrees from Tartu University. Kalmre's master's thesis focused on the themes, genesis, and distribution of contemporary Estonian folklore, completed in 2000. In 2007, she earned her doctorate with a study on cannibalistic rumors in post-war Tartu, showcasing her dedication to the field of folklore and its impact on society.
