Edward Thomas Gatto was an American football tackle born on December 26, 1916, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He played for the LSU Tigers, earning All-SEC and All-American honors. Gatto was the 33rd pick in the 1939 NFL draft by the Cleveland Rams but did not play professionally. He served in World War II as a captain in the U.S. Army's 4th Infantry Division and participated in the D-Day invasion. He was killed in action on June 9, 1944, during the Battle of Normandy at the age of 27.
