Eddie Gomez is a Puerto Rican jazz double bassist born on October 4, 1944. He moved to New York with his family as a child and began playing the double bass at 11 years old. He studied at the Juilliard School and became a member of pianist Bill Evans' trio from 1966 to 1977. Gomez released his first album, Down Stretch, in 1976. Throughout his career, he collaborated with various musicians, including Chick Corea, Art Farmer, Bill Bruford, and Jack DeJohnette.
