He has won several medals, including a bronze in the 5 km Walk in 1980, gold in the -65 kg Wrestling category in 1984, and bronze in Judo in the -71 kg category in 1988. Morten, who is deaf and has diminishing vision due to Usher Syndrome, advocates for the deaf-blind community. Since 2007, he has coordinated a volunteer program for the Deafblind Services Society of British Columbia and was recognized for his advocacy in 2009.
