Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards, born on December 5, 1963, is a British ski jumper who became notable for representing Great Britain in ski jumping at the 1988 Winter Olympics. He was the first competitor from Great Britain in ski jumping since 1929. Edwards held various records, including a world speed record for amateur skiing and a world jump record over six buses or ten cars. His journey of perseverance in the sport, without financial backing, led to his fame as a symbol of unlikely triumph. His life was later portrayed in the 2016 film 'Eddie the Eagle'.
