Eddy Arnold (May 15, 1918 – May 8, 2008) was a prominent American country singer whose career spanned six decades. He was a pioneer of the Nashville sound in the late 1950s, achieving 145 weeks at the top of the Billboard country charts, more than any other artist, with a total of 147 songs on the list. He sold over 85 million records, was a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1943, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1966. In 2003, he ranked 22nd on CMT's list of '40 Greatest Men of Country Music.'
