Soetaert has reported on the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a España, and world cycling championships. He served as a football columnist and followed the Belgian national team's matches. In 2002, he became an editor at Het Nieuwsblad and contributed a weekly sports column for Radio 2 West-Vlaanderen. In 2021, he assumed the role of press officer for KV Kortrijk.
