Edgar Ang Sinco was a student activist from the University of Mindanao, Davao City. Active before the declaration of Martial Law by Ferdinand Marcos, he was shot dead on February 16, 1971, while delivering a speech. He was the first martyr from Davao in opposition to the dictatorship. His assassination sparked riots known as the Battle of C.M. Recto, reflecting the heightened tensions of the time. In 2018, he was honored by having his name inscribed on the Wall of Remembrance for those who resisted the Martial Law regime.
