Edgar Spottiswoode Humphreys, known as Hunk, was a British pilot of the Bristol Blenheim bomber during World War II. Born on December 5, 1914, he became a prisoner of war after being captured. He participated in the infamous 'Great Escape' from Stalag Luft III in March 1944. Unfortunately, he was recaptured shortly after his escape attempt and was shot by the Gestapo on March 31, 1944.
