Edgard Francisco Parrales Castillo, born on November 16, 1942, in Managua, is a Nicaraguan diocesan priest and a proponent of liberation theology. He served as Minister of Social Welfare from 1980 to 1982 and as Nicaragua's Permanent Representative to the OAS from 1982 to 1986. In 1984, he was suspended from priestly duties by Pope John Paul II due to his associations with liberation theology but was reinstated by Pope Francis in 2014. Currently, he is a law professor at UNAN and a representative in the Arbitration Chamber in Managua.
