Edir Macedo is a Brazilian evangelical bishop, author, and billionaire businessman, born on February 18, 1945. He is the founder and bishop of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God and owner of Rede Record, Brazil's second-largest television network. Macedo, raised as a Catholic, converted to evangelical Christianity in the early 1970s. He established his church in Rio de Janeiro in 1977, advocating prosperity theology. His wealth is largely derived from media and banking ventures, including a stake in Banco Renner. He has also built a replica of Solomon's Temple in São Paulo.
