She played a crucial role during the Bombing of Darwin by managing a 1,200-bed tent hospital that treated numerous casualties. Born in Grafton, she trained as a nurse in Brisbane and worked in various locations before enlisting as a matron. Her memoir, published in 1950, reflects her experiences as an army nurse. She is honored in Tamworth Base Hospital for her contributions.
