Edith Carstensen (July 14, 1926 - March 21, 2018) was a German silhouette artist from Lichtenstein-Callnberg. After obtaining a wartime high school diploma, she attended a textile engineering school. Following her escape from East Germany, she settled in Lübeck in 1952, where she raised a family. After her husband's death in 1978, she began to donate her silhouette art to cancer charities. She founded 'Lübeck-Hilfe für krebskranke Kinder' in 1986, raising nearly €5 million for cancer patients in Lübeck. She established a foundation in 1996 to support families with sick children.
