Edmund Kemper was a notorious serial killer from California who displayed violent tendencies as a child, including decapitating dolls. He went on to murder ten women, including his mother and girlfriend. Kemper was known for gruesome post-mortem acts, including necrophilia. Arrested in 1972, he was deemed sane and responsible for his crimes, having started his killing spree at the age of 15. Although he requested the death penalty, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1973.
