Eduardo José Canela Contreras, born on March 24, 1987, in Santo Domingo, is an ultradistance swimmer specializing in open water. He holds several records in his country and Latin America and has won various national and international open water competitions. Notably, he is the only person in the world to have completed the uninterrupted round trip across the Bay of Samaná. In 2014, he set records for the longest continuous swim and the greatest distance swum in a 25-meter pool, swimming non-stop for 24 hours. Additionally, he is a certified swim coach and motivational speaker.
