Edwar al-Kharrat (March 16, 1926 - December 1, 2015) was an Egyptian writer born in Alexandria to a Coptic family from Upper Egypt. He obtained a law degree from Alexandria University in 1946 and worked in various positions, including at the British Navy Stores and the National Bank of Egypt. He was involved in revolutionary movements in Alexandria and faced imprisonment in 1948. From 1959 to 1983, he contributed to African and Asian writers' organizations, later dedicating himself to short stories, literary criticism, and translation, winning the State Encouragement Prize in 1972.
