Edward Blishen (1920-1996) was an English author and broadcaster known for his contributions to children's literature, particularly for the book 'The God Beneath the Sea,' co-written with Leon Garfield, which won the 1970 Carnegie Medal. He also authored autobiographical works, including 'A Cack-Handed War', recounting his experiences as a conscientious objector during World War II, and 'Roaring Boys', which describes teaching in a challenging London school. Blishen completed his autobiographical series with 'Mind How You Go' shortly before his death, published posthumously in 1997.
