Edward Joseph Mason (1930-2020) was a Republican State Senator from Maryland, representing the 1st district. He was elected in November 1970 and served from January 1971 until January 1983, holding the position of Senate Minority Leader during part of his tenure. In 1972, he ran for Congress as the Republican nominee in Maryland's 6th congressional district but lost to the incumbent Democrat. Mason's political career ended after he lost the 1982 Republican primary, which was won by John N. Bambacus.
