Edward Kisiel was a prominent Roman Catholic figure in Poland, known for being the first bishop of Białystok. Born on February 24, 1918, in Jundziłów, he studied in various educational institutions, including a seminary in Vilnius. He was arrested by the Gestapo in 1942 but managed to escape captivity. After being ordained a priest in 1943, he contributed significantly to the church in Białystok, overseeing the construction of numerous churches and the establishment of parishes. He was appointed an archbishop-mitropolitan by Pope John Paul II in 1992 and passed away on September 28, 1993.
