Edward Józef Malec is a Polish cardiac surgeon and pediatric surgeon born on March 18, 1954, in Oleśnica. He is a professor of medical sciences at the University of Münster, where he heads the Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. In 2016, he was appointed as a visiting professor at the State Medical University in Odessa and was awarded an honorary doctorate in 2017 for his contributions to pediatric cardiac surgery. After retiring in 2022, he began working at the Children's Health Institute in Łódź under the guidance of Professor Katarzyna Januszewska.
