O'Donohue served in various ministerial roles from 2013 to 2014, including Minister for Liquor and Gaming Regulation and Minister for Corrections. After a period in opposition as Shadow Attorney-General, he resigned from politics on December 1, 2021, following controversial remarks on social media related to the COVID-19 pandemic and Afghanistan.
