Edward Prosser Rhys was a Welsh journalist, poet, and publisher, known for his literary contributions and work as an editor. Born on March 4, 1901, in Bethel, Ceredigion, he was educated at Ysgol Ardwyn in Aberystwyth. His poetry gained prominence when he won the Crown at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in 1924. Rhys established Gwasg Aberystwyth and the Welsh Books Club. He served as the editor of Y Faner from 1923 until his death on February 6, 1945, with his work often addressing controversial themes in literature.
