Edward Roy Kent CBE was an influential estate owner and agriculturalist in the Caribbean, born on October 1, 1920, and passing away on May 15, 2009. He was honored with a CBE in 1992 for his contributions to agriculture and later received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of the West Indies in 2007. Kent was also an amateur historian, co-founding the Carriacou Historical Society and aiding in the establishment of the Carriacou Museum. His memoirs, titled 'Up Before Dawn', were published posthumously in 2011.
