Edwin Moss Eigner is an American literary scholar born on April 3, 1931, in Boston. He studied at Cornell University, earning a B.A. in 1953, and then pursued an M.F.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Iowa in 1955 and 1963, respectively. He has taught at several universities, including Northwestern and the University of Kansas, and has been affiliated with the University of California, Riverside since 1970, where he continues as an emeritus faculty member. His research focuses on 19th-century English and American literature.
