Eero Heikki Valanne (1920-1972) was a pioneering Finnish pediatrician known for his contributions to child psychiatry in Finland. He worked at Helsinki's Children's Hospital, starting as an assistant doctor in the early 1950s. Valanne became the first specialist in child psychiatry there in 1958. He emphasized the stress that illness brings to children and families, leading to improvements in hospital practices regarding pain relief and parental presence. In addition to his clinical work, he published several studies, including a book on child psychiatry in 1971, co-authored with Vappu Taipale.
