Eero Juhani Saksela is a Finnish professor of medicine born on January 6, 1937, in Helsinki. He became a physician and obtained his medical doctorate in 1962. He served as the chief physician at the Helsinki University Central Hospital and was a professor of pathological anatomy at the University of Helsinki from 1981 to 2001. Saksela received the Matti Äyräpää Prize in 1983 and is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. He is also known as the father of Kalle Saksela.
