Eevi Astel is an Estonian ethnologist and museologist, born on December 6, 1938. She graduated from the University of Tartu in 1962 as a historian-ethnographer. Since 1963, she has been working at the Estonian National Museum, initially as a technician in the scientific department, and later as the chief curator from 1971 to 2008. Her works are primarily based on the collections and gathering processes of the Estonian National Museum, focusing on folk art and ethnographic textiles.
