Efkan Ala is a Turkish politician born on February 21, 1965, in Erzurum, Turkey. He is a member of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and served as the Minister of the Interior in two non-consecutive terms from December 25, 2013, to March 7, 2015, and from November 24, 2015, to August 31, 2016. He was elected to the Turkish Parliament in 2015 and previously held the position of Governor of Batman and Diyarbakır. He was involved in a security campaign against the Gülen movement following the failed coup in Turkey in 2016.
