Egon Macher (1924-2008) was a noted German physician specializing in dermatology and venereology. He served as a professor at the University of Münster, where he was also the director of the university dermatology clinic. Macher was a prominent representative of dermatology in the Union of German Academies of Sciences and a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts as well as the German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina (since 1985). He is honored with the Egon-Macher-Preis for young researchers in dermatological research.
