Ei Akitsu (born January 25, 1950) is a Japanese poet known for her contributions to contemporary tanka poetry. She is the head of the tanka association 'Yakari' and writes under her real name, Emiko Suenaga. Akitsu has introduced feminist thought into modern tanka, significantly impacting the women's poetry movement in Japan. Her work explores themes of femininity and rebirth within the framework of traditional Japanese poetry, making her a prominent figure in contemporary literature.
