Ōhara held various positions in the banking sector before moving into the automotive industry, where he played a key role in reshaping the market dynamics by ending partnerships with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Isuzu Motors while strengthening ties with Nissan. He was influential in launching iconic vehicles such as the Subaru 1000.
