Eiji Takao is a Japanese non-fiction writer born on June 7, 1947, in Gunma Prefecture. He studied philosophy at Sophia University, followed by The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and Banaras Hindu University. After moving to England, he learned about Ludwig Wittgenstein under philosopher Jonathan Ree at Oxford. On returning to Japan, he held the position of a special correspondent for Shueisha and later became the Tokyo bureau chief for Sterling News Papers, often covering Europe and the Middle East. He is known for his work 'The Man Who Could Not Become a Beatle,' a nominee for the Daido Prize.
