Eiju Tokiwazu was a prominent player of the Tokiwazu style of shamisen, born on January 15, 1927, in Tokyo, Japan. Known formally as Suzuki Eiji, he held the stage name Eiju Tokiwazu. He was part of a distinguished lineage in traditional Japanese music, being the son of the third Tokiwazu Mojihei and related to other notable musicians. Eiju contributed significantly to the Tokiwazu tradition, continuing its legacy through his performances and teachings until his passing on December 15, 2022.
