She began her career as an illustrator at 29, primarily creating essay comics featuring her self-character, which has a round, white shape with 'Matsu' written on the forehead. Her hobbies include playing the violin and visiting Inari shrines. In her artwork, Matsumoto employs a technique to express shades using Copic markers, avoiding the use of nib pens and screen tones.
